Thanks to your support, we recently published a scientific communication highlighting the importance of the Serranía de San Lucas for the conservation of the spectacled bear in the Northern Andes. The paper also addresses the potential threats posed by both legal and illegal gold mining in the region. This publication is largely the result of our field surveys, conducted with your assistance, and advances our understanding of the biodiversity and threats faced by this critical wildlife stronghold.
