For English readers (Spanish below): We continue to conduct terrestrial vertebrate surveys at several sites throughout the Serranía de San Lucas. Our recent records of jaguars, pumas, spectacled bears, tapirs, giant anteaters, ocelots, and blue-billed curassows in this global priority area for conservation reveal a window of opportunity to preserve this unique and threatened assemblage of species dependent on intact forest landscapes. Currently, after a minor delay due to logistical constraints, we are planning a fourth field trip to Colombia’s Serranía de San Lucas. We are now focused on collecting more data using camera traps and strengthening our partnerships with local communities. Furthermore, we are working to analyze the collected information to share our findings with the scientific community and the wider public. Stay tuned for further announcements.
