Our world is being disrupted by new technologies across every industry. Imagine in this context, what it must mean for a young person who has never used a computer- the likelihood of finding work? At Afrika Tikkun we are preparing disadvantaged youth in South Africa to become computer literate and competitive in the global world. We train over 1,100 youth every year through our career development programs, providing them with valuable computer skills, among others.
Anita is one of those young people who has received computer training and secured employment. Raised in the streets of Alexandra Township, 21-year-old Anita joined Afrika Tikkun's Youth Skills Development Program to obtain computer literacy skills. Upon completion of the training, Anita enrolled in our Career Readiness Program, through which she was able to access various employability skills and was exposed to a myriad of job opportunities. She soon received a training opportunity with one of South Africa's biggest financial companies - Investec.
