Happy New Year to all of our project supporters! Thank you so much for making this access to technology possible for young people in Bumpe. We're writing with two updates on this project:
1) Fostering Global Collaboration
Students at Bumpe High School have been building their digital literacy, learning about social media and understanding how to use e-mail.
They have connected with a girls high school called Liceo El Paraiso in Costa Rica - Central America, and are sharing ideas between their students.
Bumpe High School has also formed a collaboration with Global Ideas Institute (GII). The GII is an ongoing collaborative program between the University of Toronto's Munk School of Global Affairs, the faculty of Applied Science & Engineering, The Learning Partnership Canada and the University of Toronto Schools. GII is collaboraitng with schools like BHS in sub-Sahara Africa to share ideas and experiences on the international stage on birth registration, and thanks to your support, BHS students are able to participate in their global conversation!
The Girls Learn International (GLI) in Oakwood School - Los Angeles - USA have sent copies of the book - "Persepolis" to BHS girls for reading and sharing their thoughts between students.
2) Training Other Teachers
Hindo was contacted by The Village Link - a non profit that recently installed a small digital library in Golu Village to help teach their teachers the basics of computing. Two volunteers are presently spreading their knowledge and teaching the teachers the basics twice a week.
Thanks again for your support!
