This was a very rare opportunity for the children “This was my first time visiting a Tea Factory, I see the Factory from far but have never had the chance to go past the gate, am so inspired be an Engineer” 11years old boy. Thi is an opportunity for the students to gain inight on job market. 30 youth participated in the exposure program
The career talk and outreach was an eye opener for the participants, the visits to District Hospital, Police Station and Tea Factory really played a big part in creating new career horizons for the children, linking class theories to knowledge applications.
The Children had a chance to learn about their rights especially at the police station, where they were briefed by the OCS, they got to see various machineries used in production of tea at the Tea Factory, while at the district hospital they learnt about general hygiene and prevention of infections and were sensitized on WASH principles.
What subjects do you study to become a police officer? All subjects are applicable to one becoming a police officer – as we have graduate officers. This statement was a clear manifestation that the children were keen to know what they learn in their classes and how it can be applied.
This was a great opportunity for the children as in August 2014, TYSA will be seeking inspirational career placement for some of the children in public and private institutions.
