Let's help women farmers of La Calera

By Juliette Dargnies | Volunteer for Proyectar Sin Fronteras

Dear GlobalGiving community,

As I write this, the Proyectar Sin Fronteras Foundation has begun a series of workshops with women farmers in La Calera. These women are part of our project "Sembrando Confianza Mujeres" and have formed their own association, called ASOMCA. The objective of these workshops is to propose to the participants to develop their knowledge on agroecology, so that they can reproduce this scheme in their own farms. We were able to take advantage of this space to share with them our conception of responsible agriculture, in order to show them what the role of farmers is within this natural system.

We got to know all the specificities of each plant in the area and we started to draw the plans for the development of this edible forest. Each woman presented us her point of view and her desires through a drawing, presented in front of the whole class on September 03. The objective is to learn to cultivate in accordance with the soil in order to obtain a better yield and more water for the farms.

Eventually, we hope to enable women to develop their own edible forest and have full access to regenerative agriculture.

We have already organized several workshops on Saturday, August 27 and September 3. These workshops are an opportunity for the members of our foundation to meet the members of the Sembrando Confianza Mujeres project and to participate with them in ecological awareness and nature observation.  We will be back soon in this small town in the countryside of Bogota, since a new workshop is scheduled for October 01!

Please, follow us on our social media to know more about our projects !

We invite you to support us and to help us to achieve our solidarity goals.

Thank you for reading !

Yours truly,

PSF team
