KI-DRC is providing support for the socioeconomic upliftment of vulnerable children and their families affected by HIV/ AIDS and other vulnerable health conditions in Eastern Kasai province to set up about 50 Community Microfinance Model "CMM Groups" in the 2 health zones of Kasai Oriental in order to start the implementation of economic strengthening activities or services in favour of vulnerable households to reduce the level of their socioeconomic vulnerability.
At the Centre of the DRC, Eastern Kasai province has an estimated population of 3,427,551.Signs of extreme poverty have been visible, such rise in malnutrition. The economic hardships are summarized in this snapshot: "72% of the population, especially in the North West and Kasai regions, lived in extreme poverty on less than $1.90 a day, according to the World Bank".
KI-DRC will impement a modified CMM model of microfinance that includes the following major distinctive features : train agripreneurs through an incubator with mentors targetting youths and women , orgnanise them in a CMM group, anking of the capital and profit generated through lending , capacity building in business management, strengthen MERL apparatus, especially the use of electronic monitoring tools.
The following are key indicatorsi: training and deployment of 10 Field Agent in by March 31st 2026; setting up of 50 CMM groups by September 30, 2026; support of 500 agripreneurs by September 30, 2026; USD 6,480 in savings accumulated for a minimum share of $0.1 / member / meeting against USD 32,400 in savings accumulated for a maximum, 500 households with reduced socioeconomic vulnerability.
