Solidarity Community Care Organization would like to thank all the people who donated to its project 25727-Provide Home-Based Care to 10000 People in Namibia during the GlobalGiving Accelerator Programme in December 2016. Although it was a festive season and the first time the organisation was participating in the Accelerator Programme, the organisation managed to raise about 843.37 USD (about 11,000 NAD at the current exchange rate). Although all the money raised is not yet transferred to the organisation from GlobalGiving, which we expect to happen by 26 February 2017, we have already started using the money you have donated our valued donors, mostly individual donors this time.
The money donated is being used to help HIV-positive children who have no national documents and are out of school or have disabilities to help them obtain national documents and to get them enrolled in schools and to access social grants. To this effect, we have identified about 20 children who will benefit from your donations in Ohangwena, Oshikoto, Oshana and Khomas regions of Namibia.
We have thus far helped Ndiwa, 15, to obtain a birth certificate and next, we will help Martha at Onamunama village in Ohangwena Region with hygienic items, including nappies, wipes, soap and vaseline. We will continue helping other orphans and vulnerable children in a similar manner, depending on their specific needs and conditions, with the little money that we got thanks to your generous support.
We have also started a twice a month soup kitchen in Katutura, Tobias Hainyeko Constituency in the Khomas Region, feeding over 30 needy children.
Apart from the children, we will also help other vulnerable people, especially, women and the elderly and other people who might need home-based care and support, using the donated money.
Obviously, we needed much more money to reach 10,000 people as it was our goal, but we believe we will make meaningful differences with small steps as a result of your donations.
we will keep you updated our valued donors as we progress with our community-based care and development work.
Once more, thank very much for donating to "Provide Home-Based Care to 10000 People in Namibia" and we urge you to continue supporting our cause and our next fundraising campaigns, with the next one coming on 13 March 2017, focusing on raising money for 500 orphans and vulnerable children.
