Dear Donors,
Thank you again for your generous support for GlobeMed at Dartmouth. Our partnership with the Kachin Women's Association Thailand has grown stronger since we last updated all of you, especially as a group of Dartmouth students has prepared to visit Chiang Mai this summer through our second annual Grassroots Onsite Work (GROW) internship.
After assessing the potential site of the medical laboratory in Mai Ja Yang, Burma, KWAT has decided that a more suitable location would be in a hospital within the refugee camp area. With refugees already seeking care here, the laboratory will more easily reach more people for diagnostic services. Final negotiations with the hospital are currently underway, and we will post an updated tabulation of the allocation of funds towards this project soon. We have wire-transferred $7000 to KWAT for the laboratory thus far, and our partners are in the process of acquiring the instruments and equipment for the laboratory.
We are excited to see the development of the medical laboratory, and by our next project report in August, we hope to include many more updates as well as pictures from KWAT.
