Progress Report: February 2013

By Andrew Zureick | Director of Individual Giving

Dear Donors,

Thank you again for your generous contributions during our GlobalGiving "Open Challenge" this past holiday season.  Our staff and executive board members greatly appreciate your interest in and support for GlobeMed at Dartmouth, and I'd like to welcome you all to a team of lifelong supporters of global health and social equity.  We greatly value our partnership with the Kachin Women's Association Thailand (KWAT), and we believe that our project to build a medical laboratory in a crowded Burmese refugee camp area will be a valuable asset to the region and its health care.

We recently wire-transferred $6,000 (including GlobalGiving funds and our own fundraisers on Dartmouth's campus) to KWAT's headquarters in Chiang Mai, Thailand, which will allow construction of the foundation for the laboratory to begin.  Members of the Ja Reng Yang Clinic in Mai Ja Yang, Burma look forward to this addition, especially in light of recent conflict in the region during the past few months.

We will keep all of you engaged with our progress every 3 months, both in implementation of the medical laboratory and the impact on the refugees in the region.  We hope you will continue to support us as we progress to our final fundraising goal of $10,000 by August.  After completion of the laboratory, we will update you with reports from KWAT on how the health care of the region improves.

Once again, thank you for your support and welcome to GlobeMed at Dartmouth!

Sincerely,

Andrew Zureick
