As supporters of those with Tourette syndrome, we want to show humanity in acceptance, inclusion, and tolerance of those with differences. Sometimes those differences are visible and sometimes they are hidden. We all need to feel accepted and understood despite our personal challenges; for our community of Touretters, we are that organization that strives to help, educate, and bring together people from all walks of life to show support.
Over the last 3 months, we have given out 12 new scholarships to the most unique high school graduates during the most uncommon time in history. During the pandemic, all students experienced challenges beyond their previous comprehension. Now add a complex neurological disorder and try to complete college requirements when the world is really not the same as before.
We found our scholars! They overcame challenges at school, they pushed beyond their physical symptoms that can impede learning, they worked despite the pandemic and this last September, they received a scholarship from us. Thanks to all those that have believed in our mission. Because of you, we can GIVE!
