Quarterly Project Report – Summary
During the quarter, Better Hands Association implemented the Climate Resilience and Climate-Smart Agriculture Project in the Central River Region (CRR) and North Bank Region (NBR), targeting 60 women farmers.
The project focuses on strengthening women’s capacity to respond to climate change through climate-smart agriculture (CSA) training, distribution of agricultural input kits, and the establishment of two community demonstration plots. The plots provide practical learning opportunities in sustainable food production, seed saving, soil fertility management, and organic composting.
The project also promotes climate justice dialogues to strengthen women’s participation in decision-making on land, natural resources, and climate-related issues.
Challenges:
The main challenges include limited financial resources, rising costs of agricultural inputs and transportation, unpredictable weather conditions, and difficulties reaching some communities due to transportation constraints. These challenges may affect the timely implementation of some project activities.
Overall, the project is contributing to improved agricultural knowledge, sustainable farming practices, women’s empowerment, and stronger community resilience to climate change.
