Dear friends,
Thank you for standing with communities in Sri Lanka as they recover from Cyclone Ditwah and the floods that followed. Your support continues to reach families who lost homes, livelihoods and basic necessities.
What your support made possible this period
- [Activity 1, e.g. distribution of dry rations / hygiene kits to X families in Y area]
- [Activity 2, e.g. sanitary pads for X women and girls in flood-affected villages]
- [Activity 3, e.g. leptospirosis and disaster-preparedness awareness reaching X people]
- [Activity 4, e.g. construction materials for repairing X homes or toilets]
A story from the field
[2-4 sentences about one family or person: what they faced after the cyclone, what support they received, and what has changed. First name only, with consent.]
Looking ahead
Our focus is moving from emergency relief to long-term recovery. On Delft Island (Neduntheevu), one of the most isolated communities in Jaffna District, we are planning community-led recovery work: rebuilding sanitation, repairing fishing boats and gear, supporting women heads of household with livelihood tools, and helping schoolchildren get to school. We are also working with local authorities to strengthen village-level disaster committees and early warning, so families are better prepared before the next storm arrives.
Thank you
Every donation, large or small, helps a family recover with dignity. If you can, please share this project with a friend or consider a monthly gift; steady support lets us plan recovery work, not just respond to emergencies.
With gratitude,
The Save a Life team, Jaffna
