What Fuels Our Shared Fight Against Marine Debris

You’re probably cringing as you look at this photo.

Me, too. I know it’s difficult to see an image of a whale entangled like this.

It stirs up a deep sadness in all of us who care about the oceans. But I want to share the good news with you: thanks to quick action, this whale was freed last week in the waters off Canada.

As someone who deeply values the well-being of whales, marine life, and our oceans, you can take pride in knowing that your support makes a difference: Ocean Defenders Alliance (ODA) is working tirelessly to remove the trap and fishing lines that threaten these majestic creatures. Every rope, line, and net we remove can save one more whale, seal, or turtle.

Because you stand with us in this fight to defend the oceans and her creatures from the plight of man-made debris, ODA has expanded our efforts—this year alone, we’ve partnered with three new dive boat operators who bring our volunteers to the debris sites for cleanups. We’ve also added seven new cleanup locations in 2024, furthering our impact.

Your generosity proves that you are not only a supporter but you are a true champion for the environment. Because of your compassion for marine animals and dedication to a cleaner planet, ODA can continue this critical work on your behalf.

Thank you for being a true defender of the oceans!

P.S. I thought I’d share a few photos of your crew with their “Catch of the Day”!
