The hygiene education at primary schools have now moved to Mbazi primary school during the new year 2013 as a new target.the education sessions will be targeting a school of 665 students from 1st to 6th year of primary school.the sessions have been started where they closed the first trimester with having introductiotory part on the sessions that they will receive.
now two weeks pass after their holidays of 3 weeks and the sessions have continued in classes where active participation is the first method which is used during the education sessions ,tomorrow 8th april 2013 ,it will be the 3rd session after the holidays of april.
we conduct hygiene and sanitation because "progress in sanitation and improved hygiene are critical to health, survival, and development,it is necessary to practice hygiene"
hygiene, water and sanitation project has developed due to people in Rwandan villages suffering unnecessarily from cholera, dysentery, diarrhoea and other water born diseases. These diseases spread because of unhygienic practises i.e. unclean drinking water and the use of unsanitary toilet facilities.
RVCP has been running this project since 2005 and has provided two Ventilated Improved Pit (VIP) Latrines for four vulnerable families each year. To date, 26 of the 125 households in the target village of Mpungwe have access to a VIP latrine and the local primary school has also benefitted from an ECOSAN latrine. Additionally, RVCP also Raise awareness about hygiene and sanitation through school education sessions,and conduct house to house teaching sessions compliment the provision of latrines.
