Term 3 at Chikumbuso Community School concluded on Friday, December 5, 2025, and our students are now preparing to spend the festive season with their families. Some will travel from Lusaka to rural home villages, where they’ll reconnect with grandmothers and extended relatives—an important part of Zambian cultural life.
This term, our students showed remarkable dedication to improving foundational literacy and numeracy. Teachers organized targeted learning cohorts, allowing students to receive focused support in:
A beautiful culture of mentorship emerged as older students finished eating breakfast and their own extra reading assignments, then eagerly ran to the library to read to younger learners. These sessions not only strengthened reading skills but also built joy, confidence, and connection across grade levels.
In mathematics, grade-level groups practiced core operations—addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions—often quizzing each other and celebrating progress together. Their energy and determination were inspiring to see.
Term 3 also included meaningful moments of celebration and service:
Our school community gathered for a joyous Independence Day celebration, filled with a plentiful meal, lively games, student-led skits, and plenty of laughter. It was a day that reminded us of the strength and hope within our community.
This year, we chose to celebrate Teacher’s Day by giving back. Our staff and leadership team visited a neighboring community school, where they helped deep clean the campus grounds, prepared and served lunch, donated a selection of staple food, and creating meaningful relationships with other community school teachers. This gesture reflected our teachers’ deep commitment not only to their own students, but also to education across the wider Ng’ombe and Lusaka communities.
As we close another term, we’re deeply grateful for the supporters who make this work possible. Your generosity ensures that our students have a safe learning environment, committed teachers, and the opportunity to grow academically and personally.
Thank you, again, for your support!
