Dear Friend of IBSF –
Thank you for your continuous generous donations to the children at the Ishayi Beach School Foundation.
During the first quarter of the school year, IBSF worked on renovations around the school and is also working on a sustainable replacement to the damaged generator. The generator has now being repaired and options such as solar energy are being considered as a sustainable replacement to a generator for the near future.
In addition, the process of getting the Light School formally registered with the Ministry of Education is ongoing. The initial inspection has been done with some recommendations made and we are now working on implementing the changes recommended by the Ministry. The library at the school has been renovated with new furniture and reading materials included.
Recently, Ikoyi Club in Lagos, Nigeria donated money to IBSF which allowed us to deliver additional food staples like rice, beans, yams and vegetables to the school. By providing nutritious ingredients for cooking, the schools' hot lunch program continues to model healthy behaviour for the surrounding community. Plus, a hot and nutritionally balanced meal helps the students learn to the best of their ability. In addition, the money donated was used to purchase whiteboards and stationaries for use in the classrooms.
We wish you a Happy Easter holiday and on behalf of the students at The Light School, thank you for your generosity and thank you for helping us light the future of these deserving students.
All your support and encouragement makes these projects possible and we couldn't do this without you.
Cheers!
