¡Basura Cero cumple una década! Estamos entusiasmados de celebrar la primera década de Basura Cero Puerto Rico con el inicio del primer proyecto de reciclaje de vidrio en el norte de Puerto Rico.
Gracias al apoyo del UPR Resiliency Law Center, estamos a punto de presentar la revisión final de un Acuerdo de Colaboración (MOU) entre cuatro entidades que colaborarán con el fin de recoger y reutilizar vidrio en el Municipio de Manatí. Mediante este proceso aseguramos que todas las partes del proyecto estén representadas, y que sus inquietudes y aportaciones sean incluídas y atendidas.
En adición al alcance inicial de Dale Vida al Vidrio, estamos dialogando con otra empresa de la industria de la construcción que está deseosa de colaborar con nosotros para replicar el proyecto, esta vez en el sur de la isla.
Por último, le compartimos que en los pasados meses Basura Cero Puerto Rico se reorganizó y cuenta con nuevos miembros dentro de su Junta de Directores. Además, estamos en búsqueda de un nuevo Director Ejecutivo que pueda liderar las acciones identificadas en nuestro plan estratégico recientemente actualizado. Agradecemos la labor de nuestro coordinador, Mauricio Jimenez quien en medio de la pandemia gestionó innumerables proyectos educativos y de asesoría. Le deseamos lo mejor en sus estudios de maestría.

We are excited to celebrate Basura Cero Puerto Rico’s first decade with the start of the first glass recycling project in northern Puerto Rico.
Thanks to the support of the UPR Resiliency Law Center, we are about to present the final draft of a Memorandum of Understanding between four entities that will collaborate in collecting and reusing glass in the Municipality of Manatí. Through this process we ensure that all parts of the project are represented, and that their concerns and input are included and addressed.
In addition to the initial scope of Give Life to Glass, we are in dialogue with another company in the construction industry that is interested in replicating the project in southern Puerto Rico.
Lastly, we share with you that in the past few months Zero Waste Puerto Rico has reorganized and has added new members to the Board of Directors. Additionally, we are recruiting an Executive Director who can lead the actions identified in our recently updated strategic plan. We appreciate the work of our coordinator, Mauricio Jimenez, who during the pandemia managed numerous educational and advisory projects and wish him the best in his master's studies.
We deeply appreciate your support, so crucial for the fulfillment of this goal!
