Thank you for your donations and for believing in our job into bringing solutions to the waste problem in Puerto Rico starting with glass waste stream. As stated at the beginning of the project “Dale Vida al Vidrio” seeks to reduce the amount of waste transported to landfills which are collapsing, transform waste into raw materials for the development of sustainable construction materials also generating jobs. We are eager to announce that during this first three months we were able to generate spaces for dialogue with civil society organizations such as The Rotary Club of Manati, Municipalities and companies of the private sector for transformation of the glass.
Currently we account with approval from the municipality of Manati, the private company Bloques La Pino and our willingness to work on the logistics, glass selection and collection, educational pieces and will work on the exterior design of two containers that will be purchased with the donations acquired.
The first pilot project of this kind will aim to calculate the amount of glass collected and transformed, as well as other economic and environmental indicators to show that there is feasibility in this kind of partnerships that bring value to different stake holders. The pilot is expected to start the month of February or March since there are still other topics to take on among the partners involved.
