ENTHUSIASTIC SUPPORT OF BIOLOGICAL CORRIDORS

By Roberta Ward Smiley | Founder and President

I met up with Ana Cecilia last week and she wanted to know how her project was faring as far as donations. Ana is an attorney with the Municipality of Tilaran, our hometown.

We did remove one project, Finca Salvaje, from the Global Giving website and transferred $811 in donations to the Chocüaco corridor project. Since both projects are biological corridors this made the most sense. Yet we still need over $8000 to see this great project implemented.

All around Ana’s dairy farm are housing developments. They don’t allow trees to grow on their properties in fear of blocking the view for the upscale houses they are building. This leaves Ana’s farm one of the only areas left on this badly fragmented south side of Lake Arenal where it is possible to plant these connecting corridors.

Ana loves the forest and all of the wildlife that depends on it for life. She is anxious to see this green passageway implemented so that the isolated forests can be connected, affording a “way out” for the animals and plants trapped within them.

Come on everybody, LET’S PLANT Chocüaco’s Forest Corridor in 2011.
