Hi Everyone,
We hope you enjoyed the holiday season and that 2018 is off to a great start. We have already hit the ground running over here, with the school year beginning this past Monday.
We have attached our 2017 Annual Report to this email and wanted to highlight a few of the achievements we are most excited about from this past year. These were only possible due to your generosity and support and we hope they make you proud!
The highlight of the year was the opening of our 4th library, in partnership with Breadline Africa. We have stocked it full of books, laid astroturf in front of it, and are securing an awning to provide shade from the summer sun :). More than just a library, we are committed to making this a living, breathing, magical space for children aged 5 - 12. Our talented staff will be running book clubs, reading sessions, literacy classes, and just having fun with the kids!
Over the course of the year we had 504 children participating in our literacy sessions and expect a similar number in 2018. The children continue to make excellent progress in developing the foundation in reading, writing, and comprehension needed to succeed in school.
A big thank you to everyone who is helping us develop this young generation of readers. We have big plans for 2018 and look forward to sharing many success stories with you as we go!
Sincerely,
Jim
