Our amazing visit to Nepal

By Julia Krepska | Founder and Director

Our visit to a VERY hot Nepal has just come to an end and I have to say - we couldn't be prouder of our children and the progress they are making. We spent a lot of time with our boys at the children's home, took them swimming and to different play parks. It was incredible to see how they are developing into confident boys, despite most having really sad and challenging past. Normally in Nepal children attend school 6 times a week but this has been changed recently due to gas and fuel shortages, and now the boys have Saturdays and Sundays off. In the afternoons then the staff put tables and chairs outside, and all the boys really enjoy their arts and crafts in the much needed shade - we saw some amazing pieces of art being created during those afternoons!

The garden looks absolutely amazing and magical with som nay trees, flowers, bushes and veggies growing. The summers tend to be really hot now, we had over 40 degrees temperatures every day so the shade the trees are generating now is so needed. We noticed many people from local villages that pass by our children's home stopping by for some rest in the shade of the bamboos that we grow outside of the boundary wall, and often asking for water to cool down.

We also went to visit our child helpline - the staff there are doing really well delivering daily classes to the children from the slum areas. Our teachers Sabita and Jubin are now attending a Montessori training every weekend, together with our staff from Rautahat, and are implementing everything they learn during their classes with the children. We can already see a big difference - both the children and the teachers are enjoying their classes more and more. There is a lot of singing, dancing, games and the the results are amazing - the children are learning so much.

We are now making some new plans for our Child Helpline and we will update you all on those in the next report.

Thank you so much for all the much needed support - none of this would have been possible without it.
