In Colombia, we commemorate Independence Day on July 20th, that's why we did different activities with our children: wearing traditional clothes from the regions of the country, cooking native dishes, playing soccer (representing our very talented soccer players), telling the Independence history with their own voices and accents, among others. During this event we also sang the national anthem and raised the Colombian flag, as a symbol of our patriotism so children can learn how to be better citizens of this country.
August was the lactation month, and we didn't miss the opportunity to teach our mothers (especially the ones in their teen years) about the importance of this stage during the first two years of the child. We had some activities such as plays, handicrafts made by the moms, bowling games where the ball was a breast and the pins were bottles, among others. They had lots of fun and are more aware now about the importance of breastfeeding their children!
In September we celebrated the Health World Week with activities for learning about a proper nutrition, having a good digestion, drinking lots of water, exercising daily, etc. We had different stands with fruits in form of a palm with monkeys, that the children just loved and wanted to eat more of this healthy food!
We want to thank you for all your support on this; it wouldn't have been possible without your help, so the only thing we want to ask from you now is that you spread the word with your family and friends.
