Helping families heal in the Middle East
Helping families heal in the Middle East

Thank you for shielding children in crisis.Your compassionate support delivers the life-saving medical care that children need for a healthy start in life, professional mental health services so families heal after war, and immediate relief for families who have lost everything.

In this report, you’ll find the latest updates on two crises around the world—and how supporters like you are delivering life-changing and life-saving relief to the world’s most vulnerable children.

Helping families heal in the Middle East

One in five people living in conflict zones struggle with a mental health condition, yet only 1% of the world’s health budget is dedicated to mental health services.

With your compassionate support, SOS is bridging the mental health care gap for families and children in crisis—like those in the Middle East.

As violence devastates infrastructure, services and food supply chains across the region, families are in urgent need of support—including mental health services to heal from the trauma of war.

That’s why SOS launched a new project to support families in the West Bank—delivering professional mental health care and economic empowerment services to hundreds of families in need.

Because of your compassion, families and children have the mental health support they need to process their trauma, heal and build brighter futures.

“Investing in family resilience is an investment in the future of society as a whole,” said Ghada Hirzallah, the national director of SOS Children’s Villages Palestine. “This project is in response to the growing challenges faced by the most vulnerable families and aims to empower families, children and youth to overcome challenges and build a more stable and dignified life.”

Thank you for delivering hope and help to children so that—no matter the state of the world around them—they can grow up protected, healthy and loved.

Your impact: Landslide relief in Ethiopia

On March 11, intense rainfall triggered a series of devastating landslides in Gacho Baba, a district in southern Ethiopia.

Tragically, more than 80 people lost their lives in the disaster and more than 3,000 people have been displaced from their homes, experiencing severe shortages of food and shelter.

Because of generous supporters like you, children and families aren’t left to weather this disaster alone.

With your support, SOS launched a recovery project to deliver life-saving aid and assistance to more than 380 families, so they can heal, rebuild and thrive after this devastating disaster.

Thank you for reaching out your hand to children and families in crisis. Your compassion continues to shine as a beacon of hope for the children who need you most.
