Becoming homeless is a situation that creeps up on you. You lose your job and while you are searching for new employment, you still believe that you will be able to take care of your family, pay the rent and that everything will work out. Then you are evicted and families members take you in. Still believing that things will work out, you carry on looking for employment and feeling the situation is temporary. That is, until your family members and any remaining friends who will take your phone call can't provide a roof over your head. Your temporary situation just became your crisis.
Homelessness for families is real. The number of homeless children in America has risen to 1.6 million. Many of us look at a figure like that, feel helpless and wonder if we can make an impact. We can. For over 24 years, Genesis Home has helped families move from crisis to stability and hundreds of families have come through our doors and made their way to a better life. Dedicated staff and Board Members implement our mission, but it is you, our supporters, who sustain our programs. Your gift has a direct impact on our families and especially our children. Your financial gift allows us to offer security, dignity and hope to our families.
We are delighted that two of our families will move out this week into permanant housing after spending a year with us. Permanent employment is in place, children are secure in school and daycare and they are all ready to move on to their new lives in the community.
It is a joy and an honor to be a staff member at Genesis Home. I urge you to be part of the solution by joining us as a donor. On behalf of the families with children served by Genesis Home, thank you for your kind support. Together we can have a positive impact on a family’s life.
Sincerely
Mary
