Uganda continues to face severe deforestation and environmental degradation, threatening biodiversity, water sources, and community resilience to climate change. Through the Children for a Greener Uganda project, globalgiving.org is empowering schoolchildren to become environmental stewards through tree planting, nursery development, and climate education.
This reporting period highlights active preparations at our school and community nursery sites, where hundreds of healthy indigenous and fruit tree seedlings are being nurtured in polybags for distribution to partner schools during the upcoming planting season.
Recent Progress
Healthy seedlings are growing successfully and are nearly ready for transplanting.
School eco-clubs are being prepared for upcoming tree-planting activities.
Nursery efforts are supporting the “Back to School with a Tree” initiative.
Students continue receiving hands-on environmental and climate awareness training.
Project Impact
These seedlings will help restore degraded land, reduce soil erosion, improve biodiversity, and strengthen environmental awareness among children and communities. The project also equips students with practical knowledge in sustainability and climate resilience.
Next Steps
Distribute seedlings to 30 partner schools.
Organize school-based tree-planting events.
Provide ongoing monitoring and training to improve survival rates.
Expand nursery production to reach more children and communities.
We sincerely thank every donor and partner supporting this mission. Together, we are planting hope for a greener and more sustainable Uganda.
