As the year 2026 begun, Uganda was having a general Elections on 15th January 2026. Due to this, schools were delayed to open and children had a longer Holiday than usual.
Initially schools were supposed to open on 2nd February but due to elections Ministry of Education and Sports changed the date to Tuesday 10th February, 2026 to fully complete the election process. As children reported back to school they were happy and excited.
As Thread of Life, were able to get the results of the students who finished their National Exams at the End of 2025. Parvin excelled well in her Uganda Certificate Education Exams where she got a first grade. Marjorine was also able to get back her results for Uganda Advanced Certificate Education in February 2026 and she will be joining the University in August 2026. Parvin and the rest of the students are now back in school to continue with their school in different classes and its a joy to watch these children transform due to quality education.
As the year began we were able to enroll new kids in school in the primary section..Due to increasing numbers of street children and orphans, were able to take Esther and her sibling back to school. Esther, stays with her grandmother and since she was born to age of 8 she had never gone to school, but through Thread of life Esther will be able to acquire education. Esther hopes to use education as a tool to take her grandmother and siblings out of Poverty. We have partnered with many schools like Kasubi Parents schools, Wakiso Christian Schools, K-Garden Groove Schools, Wakiso School for Deaf, M-Net Primary School and Da Hope Nursery and Primary School to keep the children in school.
