Project Report | Jul 26, 2026
Hello Summer!

By Jennifer Potter | Prevention Education Coordinator

Another Year of Growing Our Impact

As we reflect on the 2025–2026 academic year, we are incredibly grateful for the support that has allowed us to expand our prevention efforts throughout Northwest Indiana. During the school year, our Prevention Education team visited 60 schools and provided child abuse prevention education to more than 35,000 students, equipping children with age-appropriate safety skills and empowering them to recognize, respond to, and report unsafe situations.

Our work didn't stop when school was out for the summer. We remained active in the community by providing prevention education and training to camp counselors and teachers while participating in several community events, including Safe Kids Lake County, Safe Kids Porter County, HealthLinc Safety Days, and multiple National Night Out Against Violence events. These opportunities allowed us to reach families where they live, learn, and play, reinforcing the importance of creating safe environments for children year-round.

This summer also provided opportunities to strengthen our programming. We partnered with our local library to bring prevention education directly to community families, participated in professional development through the Monique Burr Foundation and the Indiana Prevention Education Coalition, and worked diligently to prepare our curriculum for the 2026–2027 school year.

We are especially excited to share that we successfully added nine new schools to our prevention program. As we begin the new school year, we already have 48 school visits scheduled, and we look forward to reconnecting with thousands of students. Every classroom we enter is another opportunity to provide children with the knowledge, confidence, and trusted adult connections they need to help prevent child sexual abuse.

None of this would be possible without the generosity of supporters like you. Your investment in prevention is helping us reach more children than ever before, ensuring they have the tools to stay safe and the courage to speak up when something isn't right. Thank you for believing that every child deserves a safe, healthy, and hopeful future.
