Child sexual abuse (CSA) is a universal problem with grave repercussions & Five years ago Sahyog embarked on its journey to respond the issue. It was a path less tread upon & consequently more Challenging route. It was a world defined by the language of silence, a silence which speaks & a silence, to which, we at Sahyog try to give strong voice.Sahyog feels humbled & proud that we have touched directly almost 1 lakh Children, assisted them to overcome their trauma & move enriched life
CSA is a form of child abuse in which an adult or older adolescent uses a child for sexual stimulation. Forms of child sexual abuse include engaging in sexual activities with a child (whether by asking or pressuring, or by other means), indecent exposure (of the genitals, female nipples, etc.), child grooming, or using a child to produce child pornography. The sexual abuse of children is a fundamental violation of their rights. It is a universal and complex problem.
PROGRESS TOWARDS MISSION
Last month(Feb2019) we conducted workshops in different areas. 7 in MCD primary schools of Sultanpuri Delhi, 8 in MCD primary schools of Mangolpuri Delhi and 2 in community. Total 82 sessions were conducted. In these sessions we observed keen participation of children,teachers and community persons. According to survey, participation included 4584 children,97 teachers and 15 community persons.Total lives impacted directly were 4800. In these sessions counsellor of sahyog and IMT Ghaziabad trainees aware childen,parents and teachers about meaning of Child Sexual Abuse,safe places,owner of my body,information about private parts,good touch vs bad touch and most importantly corrective measures to be taken like calling helpline no. 1098 and 01125257680(sahyog),shout or scream and not to feel guilty. Also this session includes games like snakes and ladders,paper activities etc so that it will be easy for children to remind things.
