By Carly Buehler | Teacher at Chikumbuso
Misheck Mvula is one of Chikumbuso’s primary school teachers. Misheck has been teaching 6th grade at Chikumbuso since 2007 and is very committed to his students. This year Chikumbuso was able to send Misheck to a distance learning program that allows him to continue teaching and get his official teaching certification at the same time.
The trouble Misheck had run into was that the local libraries and book stores in Lusaka didn’t have the resources required for his classes. Misheck didn’t want to waste his education and fall behind so he asked for a computer inorder to access the information needed. Through the training provided to our students and teachers in the library, Misheck has learned the skills needed to research information on the internet and access that which is not available to him in his local community. Through the use of a computer and the wireless internet provided at Chikumbuso, Misheck is able to succeed in his studies, further his own education, and improve the quality of education provided at Chikumbuso.
Thanks to GlobalGiving’s support we are able to provide a tool that will change the lives of hundreds of students in the future.
