To our dear supporters and friends,
We are excited to show the progress we are making on Tiny Toones Forever Home (photo attached). Whilst Cambodia is not the easiest (and most time-efficient!) place to build a whole centre, we are proud of where we are up to. KK continues to be there every day to oversee the construction and is physically helping build with his own hands. We could not do any of this without him and feel confident it should be complete by the end of this year.
One of the most special things about Tiny Toones has always been that is not just a centre, it is a community. Those that have been there since the beginning will all undoubtedly say it is their family. Everyone at Tiny Toones, staff and students call eachother brother, sister, aunty, and uncle. The original kids, KK's first dancers are still close, meeting for meals and still dancing or singing together. All of them have also visited the construction of the centre.
We were thrilled when we recently had a visit from Tou, who is now a widely recognised rapper and songwriter. At 30, he is a husband and father, has released an album, has many hit singles and is often seen on local television. We, Tiny Toones, met him at 13 years-old as a sweet, shy and very studious little breakdancer. He was the youngest performer on our Australian and New Zealand tours. And like all our Tiny Toones 'kids', they all remember their roots and come back 'home' to sing, to dance and to hang out with family. Attached is a photo from his recent visit of him and KK at our new site. You can follow Tou under 'Vin Vitou.'
And lastly, if you want to learn about the back story to Tiny Toones, including Tou as a young teenager, grab a copy of 'Hip Hop & Hope, One woman's journey in the slums of Cambodia', in paperback, ebook and audio, available everywhere.
50% of all proceeds go back to the running of the centre. Get your copy HERE
With love and respect,
KK, Romi and our TT family xxx
