Dear Patron,
Greetings from El Shaddai, we bring to you our report on “Be the lifeline of 1000 children in India”. Underprivileged children face multiple challenges, social stigma and discrimination affecting self-esteem, health problems due to unsanitary living conditions, safety and security concerns in slum areas, frequent migration disrupting educational continuity, limited access to early childhood education.
We at El Shaddai focus on the basic rights of children and want to ensure that child can achieve their dreams. We have opened formal, non-formal schools, slum schools, Homes, day care shelters and community centers in Goa, Karnataka and Mumbai.
The El Shaddai Schools encourages street children and slow learning children to gain new hope through non-formal methods of learning. We also reach out to children across Goa and neighboring states with neighborhood learning initiatives. We conduct coaching and remedial learning classes in our Shelters and Community Centres. Our focus is in the slums and communities we work with, which is to ensure pre-primary schooling for the children. By providing them with a safe place to learn, we keep them off the streets and away from possible abuse such as drugs, sex trafficking, begging and child labor.
We have a beautiful story of a girl named Shiksha (name changed). She came with her family from a village in Karnataka. Her mother thought she would find a good job in Goa as her husband passed way due to cancer. She was finding it very difficult to provide for her children. She roamed the streets in Goa for endless days in the hope of a job. But she was not able to find one. As she was sitting on the streets with the children, an El Shaddai staff asked her to come along with the children and they were taken to the nearest shelters. Here they were provided food, clean clothes, placed in Homes and enrolled in schools.
It’s been 5 years now and this little girl is now all grown up and busy studying for her 5th Grade. She aspires to be a teacher and be able to provide education to all. There are many more like her, just waiting for a helping hand. We believe that every little kindness will make a big difference.
We thank each and every sponsor, well wisher, for all your kindness and support. Thank you once again for believing in our mission. We look forward to keeping you updated on our progress!
With Gratitude,
Sincerely
