In Sri Lanka, 1.6 million differently-abled individuals, 73% of whom are children and youths. This project empowers them through education, vocational training, assistive devices, access to sanitation, and medical care to enhance their quality of life and job prospects. This project can make a lasting impact by fostering independence and creating an inclusive society where differently-abled youth contribute to economic growth and social equity through sustainable empowerment.
Differently-abled youth in Sri Lanka, especially in rural areas, face challenges like limited access to inclusive education, poor school infrastructure, and financial constraints. This lack of education and skills heightens their economic dependence. The national economic crisis worsens their vulnerability, restricting their chances for financial independence and personal growth. Additionally, there is a shortage of assistive devices, such as wheelchairs and hearing aids, impairing their life.
Our project will address challenges faced by differently-abled youth in rural areas by providing educational sponsorship and vocational training to enhance skills. We will supply assistive devices like wheelchair and hearing aids to improve mobility and communication. We will offer mental and healthcare support to foster independence and reduce economic dependence. We will help academic institutions create inclusive infrastructure for differently-abled individuals to ensure better accessibility.
The program aims for long-term economic empowerment and independence for differently-abled individuals. It provides educational sponsorship and tailored skill development to enhance career opportunities and financial security. Access to assistive aids will improve mobility and daily functioning. This support will drive sustained personal and professional growth, fostering greater inclusion and self-resilience.
