Supporting Our Citizens With Their Animals

By Kate Quigley | Project Leader

It can take a village to catch a stray dog!
It can take a village to catch a stray dog!

Chain of Hope is committed to helping pet owners in the urban core of Kansas City, Missouri. We are out six days a week, speaking with pet owners, finding out what their needs are and how we can help them. Education is key. When people know better, they usually do better. Sometimes, all they need to improve their animal’s life is a little assistance and knowledge about what their animal needs to be healthy and happy.

Some people have never had a dog inside the house. We speak with people about the companionship of an animal and also the need for them to be out of the elements. We offer them a free wire kennel so that they can bring their dog inside. Sometimes they are reluctant because the dog isn’t house-trained or might tear things up. We explain how to use the kennel to kennel-train them, put them in the kennel when they leave the house and other tips to help them succeed.

Chain of Hope spays and neuters a lot of animals for free for low-income citizens. We provide free transportation as well. We educate people about the benefits of spaying and neutering their animals and provide the financial assistance. We find that people are curious about this topic and often have questions before committing to do it. That is why going out in the community and speaking with people is such an important part of our program.

Since some animals will never come inside, despite our extreme weather, our emphasis is on those that need help surviving our brutal winters and stifling summers. We work very hard for the people and the animals in the inner city of Kansas City, Missouri. We will do anything we can for someone calling Chain of Hope for help with an animal.

The only way that we can provide these life-saving supplies to those that desperately need them is because of our donors. Thank you for donating or for considering donating to the important mission of Chain of Hope, which is to alleviate the suffering of animals in the urban core of Kansas City, Missouri.
