Greetings to all!
I apologize for the delay in getting this overdue project report to you. Our organization has gone through some difficult, and some wonderful changes in the last half of 2015. As the leader of this organization, the progress, impacts, and reporting are my responsibility, and I have been battling a life threatening and changing health issue since late July. It seemed insurmountable to tackle all the tasks I am responsible for, thankfully we have an incredible team of volunteers, and I was able to gradually catch up.
The experience was eye opening to say the least. And while we were able to provide the services we had raise funds for, we quickly began to see where our strengths, weaknesses and passions were within our organization. Because of my illness, we raised a limited amount toward our budget this year, which forced us to be creative, and "think outside the box."
Times like these are generally not thought of as positive, yet, as a team we feel more committed than ever to gathering ourselves up, and getting back in the saddle! Few people have the opportunity to become clients of their own programs, but during my recovery I spent countless hours just sitting with our therapy horses. It's all I could do. I watched others care for them, I watched them do their work as a bystander. And when I was stronger, I developed my own plan for recovery. It worked, and today I feel stronger than I have in years...thanks to our incredible team of therapy horses.
Our 2015 season is now over. When our clients begin sessions in April of 2016, we will be ready! Ready to serve the community to the best of our ability. We will be launching our new projects in the days to come, and we hope that you will be as excited about them as we are. As always, we have put together unique and challenging sessions for clients of all ages and needs, and we believe that our new season long, mentored approach will be well received and provide maximum benefit to our clients and community.
We want to thank you for your support to our programs, and we hope that you will continue with us on this journey as we build and expand on our traditional programs. We are excited for the 2016 season, and the seasons to come. And we are so grateful to have you along with us!
Sincerely,
Colleen Cheechalk
