After months of working with MyMusicRx Specialists, Reese, who was very shy at first, began putting on regular performances for the staff and families of Ronald McDonald House, where CCA’s MyMusicRx program has a presence a few days out of the week. Not only did Reese learn how to play the ukulele in her time with the MyMusicRx team, but she also learned over 15 pop and rock songs that she referred to as her "set list." Over time, Reese gradually started incorporated singing into her performances as well. The MyMusicRx Specialists at CCA were so proud to see her go from first appearing very shy to confidently singing and playing along with them, especially when she jams to one of her favorite songs, "Ho Hey" by The Lumineers.
CCA continues to deliver MyMusicRx to thousands of seriously ill kids like Reese across the U.S. and Canada, serving 5,300 children in the past year. Trained MyMusicRx Specialists engage kids in bedside sing-a-longs, offer instrument lending for self-expression, and provide access to CCA’s digital music medicine program, MyMusicRx.org. Scientifically proven to help pediatric patients manage pain, boost immunity, and decrease emotional stress, CCA uses music medicine to heal.
With your generous donation, we can grow this program and spread the healing joy of music to more children, teens, and families.
