Chris is an awesome teen who was recently treated in the Children’s Emergency Department at Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel. Unfortunately, Chris was in need of a procedure that required an IV, and being no fan of needles, the IV was making him nervous and anxious. That’s when a nurse went looking for one of CCA’s MyMusicRx in-hospital musicians. After coming into the hospital room and introducing himself, the MyMusicRx Specialist started playing some songs. The music made Chris feel better, so much so that he asked the MyMusicRx Specialist to stay and continue to play during the procedure and help calm his nerves.
CCA continues to deliver MyMusicRx to thousands of seriously ill kids like Chris across the U.S. and Canada, serving 4,000 children in the past year. Trained MyMusicRx Specialists engage kids in bedside sing-a-longs, offer instrument lending for self-expression, and provide access to CCA’s digital music medicine program, MyMusicRx.org. Scientifically proven to help pediatric patients manage pain, boost immunity, and decrease emotional stress, CCA uses music medicine to heal.
With your generous donation, we can grow this program and spread the healing joy of music to more children, teens, and families.
