Savannah is a young lady who has frequent hospital visits to treat cystic fibrosis. One of the best things about Savannah is that she is always waiting for music. When CCA’s MyMusicRx Specialists come by her room, she often asks, “Where have you been?!” She requests the MyMusicRx Specialists, hoping for a playful distraction from her day, which is full of various treatments, tests, and therapies.
Savannah wasn’t always so open to music, though. It took the interactive elements of our MyMusicRx iPads in order to get her excited about our program. She thumbed through numerous apps, until she landed on a songwriting app that gives her the chance to create all kinds of silly songs that she always plays back with a huge smile on her face.
CCA continues to deliver MyMusicRx to thousands of seriously ill kids like Savannah across the U.S. and Canada, serving 4,400 children in the past year. Trained MyMusicRx Specialists engage kids in bedside sing-a-longs, offer instrument lending for self-expression, and provide access to CCA’s digital music medicine program, MyMusicRx.org. Scientifically proven to help pediatric patients manage pain, boost immunity, and decrease emotional stress, CCA uses music medicine to heal.
With your generous donation, we can grow this program and spread the healing joy of music to more children, teens, and families.
