Even before he was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome, Caden was sick of hospital rooms. His little brother Ryland had spent more than 130 nights in the hospital while he underwent chemotherapy—but now it was Caden’s turn to be the patient.
To help him feel better, CCA delivered the healing power of music right to Caden’s bedside with our flagship MyMusicRx program. When MyMusicRx Specialist Matt saw that Caden had a genuine interest in learning guitar, CCA hooked him up with his very own Fender Stratocaster and amp.
These days, Caden, a 2014 CCA Community Hero, is on the road to recovery and rocking a pretty mean version of “Smoke on the Water.”
CCA continues to deliver MyMusicRx to thousands of seriously ill kids like Caden across the U.S. and Canada, serving 2,382 children in 2013. Trained MyMusicRx Specialists engage kids in bedside sing-a-longs, offer instrument lending for self-expression, and provide access to CCA’s digital music medicine program, MyMusicRx.org. Scientifically proven to help pediatric patients manage pain, boost immunity, and decrease emotional stress, CCA uses music medicine to heal.
With your generous donation we can grow this program and spread the healing joy of music to more children, teens, and families.
