Six-year-old Zophia can be a little shy, but when our MusicRx specialists appear at her door with their magical mobile music cart, she turns into a singing superstar!
Jamming along with one of our colorful “egg” shakers, Zophia lights up the room with her bright smile as she belts out tunes by one of her favorite artists, Taylor Swift.
CCA’s award-winning MusicRx program, comprised of music specialists and highly trained volunteers, infuses hospitals with the healing power of music by delivering bedside therapeutic music medicine and staging impromptu hallway performances. MusicRx’s exclusive mobile music cart is custom-designed to hold a lending library of nearly 100 specialized instruments, interactive songwriting and recording technology, a karaoke machine, and an iPod doc loaded with music for every age.
Last year, CCA’s MusicRx delivered music services 15,915 times and provided 530 palliative interactions. CCA also launched a new digital medicine program, MyMusicRx, which delivers the healing power of music to kids worldwide through the MyMusicRx.org website.
