A budding ukulele player, Jenasey is a shining star in CCA’s MusicRx program. At the age of five she was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a fast-growing brain tumor that affects the cerebellum.
The MusicRx program delivers music medicine to Jenasay during her difficult treatments with sing-a-longs and musical instruments. Always seen with a bright smile, her sweet voice sings in the halls at the hospital. To quote Jenasay, “All I want to do is play music!”
CCA’s award-winning MusicRx program, comprised of music specialists and highly trained volunteers, infuses hospitals with the healing power of music by delivering bedside music medicine and staging impromptu hallway performances. Our exclusive mobile music cart is custom-designed to hold a lending library of nearly 100 specialized instruments, interactive songwriting and recording technology, a karaoke machine, and an iPod doc loaded with music for every age.
Last year, MusicRx delivered music services 15,915 times and provided 530 palliative interactions. CCA also launched a new digital medicine program, MyMusicRx, which delivers the healing power of music to kids nationally through MyMusicRx.org.
With your generous donation we can grow these programs and spread the healing joy of music to more children, teens, and families.
