Project Report | Jun 19, 2015
Be aware, be happy

By Olga Lavut | Volunteer

The academic year that has just ended has made a huge difference in the lives of many children, especially those new to the inclusive education project.

The adults, too, have an education process of their own: advanced training, seminars, and meetings are a necessary component of successful work of teachers, especially those working with children with special needs. Your support made it possible for us to bring our colleagues from America in to help train our experts.

In May, well known US experts in the field of physical rehabilitation and “special” fitness, David S. Geslak and Jessica Smith, came to our school and taught a master class on the benefits of physical education for children with autism. And the most valuable was the visit of an amazing ABA therapy expert from California, Jill Young. She taught some classes and supervised the teachers of our inclusive education project as they worked with their students.

Jill Young praised the project’s clinical director, Yulia Presnyakova, as a highly qualified and skilled behavioral consultant. Ms. Young offered many new ideas for teaching strategies, creating unique behavior contracts with children, and managing staff.

This is the professional support we need to increase the proficiency of our teachers. After attending classes, the teachers and tutors meet, exchange their impressions and ideas about applying new knowledge. This is the only way to improve the quality of professional work with children even more, and to make sure the skills of the teachers are not far behind the special needs of our extraordinary students.

Its all thanks to you, that we are able to carry on.
