THINK has continued to be active in advocating for women’s participation in leadership and governance at all levels. Women and adolescent girls who participate in our empowerment program joined women and girls from communities around Liberia as “The Lappa Movement” has grown in Monrovia. The aim of the Lappa Movement is to build a network of women for mass action in advocating for issues affecting women (Rape, Sexual and Gender Based Violence including Human Trafficking, Domestic Violence, Electoral Violence and Violence at places of work).
International Women’s Day 2021 was observed in high spirits as women and girls pledged to challenge themselves to keeping the promise of speaking out and doing all we can to stop sexual violence in Liberia. During the National observance of the IWD on March 8, 2021, the President of Liberia unveiled the brand-new DNA machine that will be set up help with scientific forensic evidence that will help survivors that seek legal redress, get justice.
THINK is presently on an assessment trip to Southeastern Liberia to see how the safe home in Grand Gedeh is doing. Other teams have gone to various counties for the same reason. The assessments will bring back information on gaps in service delivery and what the needs of staff and survivors are.
THINK is very grateful to out donors and partners that have continued to support our work over the years. You are a great part of making our Vision and Mission come trure. THANK YOU!!
