Empowering Women and Girls

The COVID-19 pandemic has reminded us about the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) Outbreak that greatly affected Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone in 2014 - 2015. We used measures to reach out to our beneficiaries and provided them with the correct information about the disease, how they could provide awareness on the prevention of the spread of the virus by proper and frequent hand washing and reporting to health facilities when they feel sick or notice community members that are sick. 

COVID-19 not only is a health threat but has seriously affected the economic standing of our beneficiaries, most of whom are doing small businesses. What makes COVID -19 more serious, it is a pandemic that has badly hit countries that came to our aid in 2014. In this light, we have identified the following measures as assistance to our beneficiaries.

• Produced awareness facts on COVID-19
• Developed messages on the prevention of the spread of COVID-19
• Procured and distribute 50 pieces of handwashing buckets, detergent, nose masks, and face shields
• Procured fabric and materials to produce 500 nose masks at the THINK safe home for income generation for the center
• Purchased food items for distribution to survivors of SGBV in our safe home
• Purchased personal care items for residents of the safe home
• Produced a song on COVID-19 in one of the local vernacular, giving out the facts and prevention measures
• Raising money to give loans to 10 women and adolescent girls to jump-start their petty businesses. The loans are in the amount of 100.00 each.
