Gawad Kalinga launched Kusina ng Kalinga (KnK) in 2014 as a strategic response to the problem of hunger and malnutrition among Filipino children, during the relief operation in areas devasted by Haiyan It is a program built on the central kitchen approach to large-scale feeding for children in public schools, on the streets, and in calamity or conflict areas. From an initial reach of 3,000 kids, we are now proud to say that in partnership with the Department of Education, various local government units, and various corporate partners that we are currently providing up to 100,000 meals a day through 120 central kitchens nationwide.
To date, we are still committed to continue our care kitchen depiste the presence of COVID19 as hunger doubled. We will operate our centralized kitchens inside Gawad Kalinga's communities. Together, hunger ends when caring begins.
