Hi Friends!

At this year end report we first want to wish all our friends and supporters a very Happy Thanksgiving. A Big Thank You from the heart of all the students and teachers at the JP Das Memorial Vocational Training School for the Deaf. Your patience and unwavering support is the biggest gift that you have given us.

As for updates, in order to better utilize the space inside our new two-story building we are planning to open a unit that will be dedicated to preschool age deaf children between the ages of 2.5-5 years old. With a specially designed curriculum, trained teachers will be evaluating the vocabulary, listening and speech skills of small children and teaching them accordingly to make up for the deficiencies. A group of retired teachers from an earlier deaf school that has closed, have agreed to help us for this purpose.

On 27th August a state football meet of the deaf was organized and prizes were distributed at the Burdwan Town School grounds. The 27th All Bengal Sit and Draw contest of the deaf was also held on 31st August inside the school premises where a student from Ichhapur Deaf and Dumb School won the first prize. Some pictures are attached for you to enjoy.

Computer training classes are going on as usual for 2 days every week. This is the area where we still have a lot of room for improvement. We have ideas that we will implement given we have available funding and students willing to take advantage of the advanced courses.

Hope to give you many more positive updates in the future.

Thank you all,

Best Regards,
