Project Report | Aug 14, 2017
Toto is doing well in his new home!

By Jill D. Pruetz, Ph.D. | Project Leader

Greetings friends!

I am writing to give you an update on Toto and to tell you that Neighbor Ape has completed its funding of Project Toto!

While I will contribute funds to Toto's care in sanctuary, I now do so on an individual basis, and I encourage you to seek out the Chimpanzee Conservation Centre (CCC) in Guinea if you would like to continue supporting Toto:

https://www.projetprimates.com/chimpanzee-conservation-center/

Toto has now been integrated into a new group of juveniles and adolescent chimpanzees. His favorite friends are Labe and Noel. Labe is an older female, and she especially takes up for Toto in any scuffles that ensue... You can see more about their antics on the CCC Facebook page.

It is because of your generosity that we were able to care for Toto and to ultimately send him to sanctuary. He may be able to return to the wild one day per the CCC's program of rehabilitation and release. We hear from caretakers at the CCC that Toto is especially comfortable with being "in the wild", surely a result of his care with Janis Carter and Neighbor Ape employees and the fact that he was taken out to the bush almost daily to "be a chimpanzee".

Again, my sincere thanks for your assistance - I hope you follow the Neighbor Ape page on Facebook to keep up with Toto's progress:
