This quarter was very busy as Care for a Child’s Heart (CFACH) continued to impact the lives of patients and families that needed heart treatment and urgent intervention. Amidst the disruptions caused by the global coronavirus pandemic, several patients received much needed surgeries to remedy their maladies with positive outcomes.
Patients: Bushra, Rahma, Mary, and Victor received successful surgeries at the Gertrudes Children Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya in November.
Two patients had successful surgery at the MP Shah Hospital, Kenya. Five-year-old Zada was diagnosed with congenital heart disease at the age of 1 year. The observing cardiologist recommended surgery for total correction of Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). Her parents connected with CFACH via facebook and got listed for the MP Shah mission in November 2021. She underwent a successful surgery on November 18, 2021. His parents connected with CFACH after they were linked by a past beneficiary. The long awaited open heart surgery took place on November 15, 2021 at MP Shah Hospital. Both patients are recovering well.
Three patients, Mel, Mil, and Nath, had surgeries at the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute in Tanzania in early January 2022. All patients are recovering well.
