Every month support groups for children living with HIV is organized at the office. In the month of December 2019, a Family fest was organized for the children and their families. This programme was organized to facilitate a better understanding and support among the families towards children. The programme also consisted of children presenting their skills and talents through dance, songs and skit.
As part of the event, practice sessions were organized for the children in groups and in one of the session Vignesh also was part of the dance group. He was regular for the practice session and did not complain of any symptom of the ailment of severe appendicitis and that lead him to a very critical condition. The operation was done the next day and was a major one .The encouragement that he should be part of the family get together helped him and his mother during the recovery process. Though he was discharged from the hospital, three days before the family fest. He came to the Family Fest along with his mother to share his testimony of overcoming the fear of the surgery. He also shared that his friends support also was an encouragement for him to get back from the hospital and work towards healthy life style.
Family Fest is organized every year to bring the families and children together and this has encouraged the families to know that they are not alone and also feel supported with each other.
