By Michelle Barnes | Staff at World Child Cancer
We have been focused on trainings for the medical personnel at our partner hospitals in Mexico. Specifically, we have been providing focused trainings for nurses to help them better reduce infections and treat common issues associated with chemotherapy in children.
Many children (and their families) at our program sites in Mexico abandon treatment or don't survive due to issues that have been addressed successfully at hospitals in the developing world. We are providing training and support for the nurses and social workers to help them implement new systems, policies and treatments to increase survival rates and to reduce abandonment of treatment.
We believe every child with cancer deserves the best care possible and we are changing the odds for these children.
